Terms of Service
Effective 8 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Anterra Ltd for use of the hosted Weave service. Please read them carefully. Sections 13 and 14 limit our liability and differ depending on whether you are a consumer or a business.
Early access. Weave is in early access. Features change often, and the Service is provided without a service-level agreement. Keep your own copies of anything important.
1. About us and these terms
Weave is operated by Anterra Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [TO CONFIRM: company number]), registered office [TO CONFIRM: registered office address] ("Anterra", "we", "us"). You can contact us at privacy@weave.directory.
By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms, together with our Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that organisation.
Consumers and business users. You are a consumer if you use the Service wholly or mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession. Otherwise you are a business user. Some sections apply differently to each, as stated.
2. The Service
Weave is version control in which symbols — functions, types, variables and other named definitions — are the unit of change, built for people and AI agents working on the same code. Every symbol can have an owner; other people send suggestions and change requests; work moves from draft to stitch to weave along a chain of workstreams; and decision records capture why changes were made.
These terms cover the hosted service (the "Service"), meaning:
- the web platform at www.weave.directory, for accounts, organisations, teams, repositories, reviews and settings; and
- the hosted Weave server at api.weave.directory, which stores and checks workstreams, stitches, symbol ownership, suggestions, change requests, decision records and the operation log, and provides search and AI features.
The Weave CLI is source-available software distributed from weave-cli.com under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0, or under any separate commercial licence you agree with us. That licence, not these terms, governs your rights to use, copy and modify the CLI. These terms apply when the CLI connects to the Service.
3. Accounts and security
- You must be at least 16 years old and give accurate information when you register.
- Keep your password, personal access tokens and SSH keys confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account, including actions taken by AI agents or automation using your credentials.
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional for most accounts but is required for owners and admins of organisations. We strongly recommend it for everyone.
- Tell us promptly at security@weave.directory if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
- Organisation owners and admins control who can access the organisation's repositories and are responsible for the permissions they grant.
4. Acceptable use
You must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, you must not use the Service unlawfully, upload malware, interfere with the Service or other users, or try to gain unauthorised access. You may not reverse engineer the hosted Service except to the extent permitted by law or by the licence of a source-available component (such as the CLI).
5. Your content
"Customer Content" means the code, files and other material you or your collaborators submit to the Service, including stitches, suggestions, change requests, decision records, threads and their metadata.
- You keep ownership of your Customer Content. We claim no intellectual property rights in it.
- Licence to us. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, parse, index, create embeddings from, render and display Customer Content, and to send it to our subprocessors, only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service for you and the people you give access to. This licence ends when the content is deleted from the Service, subject to backups expiring as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Public repositories. If you make a repository public, anyone can view it, and you are responsible for choosing that.
- Your responsibilities. You confirm you have the rights needed to submit Customer Content and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or the law. You are responsible for any personal data in your Customer Content and for having a lawful basis to process it.
- Data processing. For personal data in Customer Content, we act as your processor. Our Data Processing Addendum is available to business customers on request at privacy@weave.directory.
- Feedback. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without obligation to you.
6. AI features
- Search, resolve and impact prediction use third-party AI models. The Privacy Policy explains what text is sent and to whom.
- AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable, and may resemble third-party material. Review it before relying on it. You are responsible for the changes you, or AI agents acting for you, stitch and weave.
- We do not use your Customer Content to train AI models.
- If you use an AI provider directly (for example via
weave enrichwith your own API key), that is between you and the provider.
7. Paid features
- Some features may be charged for, for example a paid plan or packages of Weave tokens that are consumed by AI and indexing features. Prices, what is included, and any taxes will be shown before you buy. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
- Tokens have no cash value, are not transferable outside your account or organisation and, unless stated at purchase, do not expire while your account is open.
- We may change prices for future periods or purchases by giving at least 30 days' notice. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the change applies.
- Consumers' right to cancel. If you are a consumer, you normally have 14 days from purchase to cancel and get a refund. If you ask us to make the digital service or tokens available immediately, you acknowledge that you will lose that right once the service has been fully provided or the tokens used, and we may deduct a proportionate amount for anything used before you cancelled.
- Your statutory rights are not affected. Otherwise, fees are non-refundable except where these terms or the law say they are.
8. Availability and changes to the Service
We aim to keep the Service available and secure, but during early access we do not promise any level of uptime or support response, and there is no service-level agreement unless we agree one in writing. We may carry out maintenance, and we may change, add or remove features. If we remove a feature you have paid for or make a change that materially disadvantages you, we will give you reasonable notice and, if you are unhappy, you may end your paid plan and receive a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unused period.
9. Third-party services
The Service may let you connect third-party services (such as GitHub or Google sign-in, webhooks or your own AI provider). Your use of them is governed by their terms, and we are not responsible for them.
10. Suspension and termination
- You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings.
- We may suspend or restrict access, with notice where reasonably practicable, if you materially breach these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if your use creates a security or legal risk, or if fees are overdue. We will lift a suspension once the reason has been resolved.
- We may terminate these terms for material breach that is not remedied within 14 days of notice (or immediately for serious or repeated breach), or for any reason by giving at least 30 days' notice, in which case we will refund prepaid fees for the unused period.
- If we end the Service generally, we will give at least 30 days' notice where possible.
- After termination you can export your Customer Content for 30 days (except where termination was for serious breach or required by law), after which we will delete it as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 5, 12–16) will survive.
11. Our intellectual property
We and our licensors own the Service, including the platform, the Weave server and the Weave name and logo. Except for the licence to use the Service under these terms and any licence granted for source-available components, no rights are transferred to you.
12. Warranties
Consumers: we will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill, and digital content will be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing in these terms affects those statutory rights. Free features are provided as they are, to the extent the law allows.
Business users: except as expressly stated in these terms, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and all warranties, conditions and terms implied by statute or common law (including as to satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and non-infringement) are excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
- If digital content we supply damages a device or other digital content belonging to you because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
- We provide the Service for domestic and private use. We are not liable to you for any loss of profit, business, business opportunity or business interruption.
If you are a business user
- We are not liable, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- Our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) £100.
- You are responsible for keeping your own backups of your Customer Content; the Weave CLI and your local working copies are designed to let you do so.
14. Indemnity (business users only)
If you are a business user, you will indemnify us against claims, losses, damages and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from a third-party claim that your Customer Content, or your use of the Service in breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, infringes that third party's rights or breaks the law. We will notify you promptly of any such claim, let you control its defence and settlement (provided no settlement imposes liability on us without our consent), and give reasonable help at your cost.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Service, the law or our business. For material changes, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email or in the platform before they take effect (or less if required by law or for security reasons). If you do not agree, you may stop using the Service and close your account before the change applies; if you are on a paid plan, we will refund prepaid fees for the unused period. Continuing to use the Service after the change takes effect means you accept it.
16. General
- Governing law. These terms and any dispute arising from them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the law of England and Wales.
- Jurisdiction. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction for business users. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live, and if you live in the EU you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country and may bring proceedings there.
- Entire agreement (business users). These terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and any order or Data Processing Addendum we agree are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
- Assignment. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, and will tell you if we do; if you are a consumer and unhappy with the transfer, you may end the contract. You may not transfer your rights without our written consent.
- Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, but will tell you and take reasonable steps to minimise the effect.
- Severability and waiver. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in force. A delay in enforcing these terms does not waive our rights.
- Third-party rights. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- Notices. We may give notices by email to the address on your account or in the platform. You may give notices to privacy@weave.directory or by post to our registered office.
